Been Looking For a Song For Years Now. HALP!
I have no idea who sang it. I just remember my dad having a cassette tape with a song he said came from a record he dubbed years ago, so it was old when i heard it 15yrs ago. lol. anyways, heres the lyrics i remember.

Just lying back in the cool green grass, nothin on my mind but a five pound bass, watchin the evening sun go down, the crickets are the only sound around....
i hear the country calling me, saying get on stage where im supposed to be...
pack up my clothes and my guitar, go home and catch a lightning bug, and put em in a jar.

thats all i can remember. its been 10-15 yrs since ive heard that song and im only 25 now. sorry i cant offer more info.

i also remember there being two different artists singing that song on the dub tape.

Been Looking For a Song For Years Now. HALP!
hi there,

I found something but could be completely wrong. But maybe other forum members can work with the info.

info on what I guess is a country dance : http://www.ceder.net/recorddb/viewsingle.php4?RecordId=10764&SqlId=54435

the lyrics on that page are (incomplete !?!) :

I feel the country callin' me
Pack up your bags and your guitar
Come on home) catch a bug, put 'em in a jar
I feel the country callin' me
Sayin' come on home where you ought to be
Just lying back in the cool green grass
My mind slips back to another time
Watchin' the evening sun go down
Crickets are the only sound around
Had an old hound dog to be my friend
Wish I could be a kid again

It's called "I feel the country callin' me" -- a search on the net gave me Charley Pride (on his album "She's just an old love turned memory", 1977) and Mac Davis (on his album "Till I made it with you", 1985) -- but also not certain that it's the same song. I can't find find audio/video for neither version.
